Sharon Dube Friedrichs

Sharon Dube Friedrichs passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the age of 64. Sharon was born in Edinburg, Texas, on September 20, 1961, the daughter of Dr. Ray and Marilyn Dube. She grew up in McAllen where she participated in Melba’s Dance Academy, Readers Club, Girl Scouts and the McAllen High School Steppers. She later served in the McAllen Junior Service League. Sharon graduated from McAllen High School in 1980 and attended Southwest Texas State University. After two years, she returned home to work alongside her father in his optometry practice. In 1984, she met Richard “Dickie” Friedrichs. They married on July 26, 1986, and built a life together for the next 40 years. Her boys were the center of Sharon’s life and her greatest source of pride. She was always on the other end of the phone, day or night, and took genuine joy in whatever they were doing. Whether it was Trey building a journalism career far from home, Connor building businesses and a career in McAllen, or Ryan becoming a Texas State Park Police Officer, Sharon was endlessly proud of each of them. She was fiercely protective of her sons, always in their corner, and never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud she was. Sharon was also deeply involved in animal rescue. She helped lost dogs find their way home and worked to connect homeless animals with foster and forever families. Over the years, countless animals benefited from her persistence and compassion. Her own dogs, Bandit and Casper, were beloved members of her family. Sharon had a gift for making people feel cared for. She listened without judgment, kept confidences and was always willing to help. Her friendships spanned decades, including lifelong bonds with Diana, Michele, Cindy, and Diane. The people Sharon loved knew they could call her at any hour and that she would be there. To her boys: Look for your Mom. She will always be watching over you. Her mission isn’t finished yet. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Ray and Marilyn Dube; her parents-in-law, Sadie and Dick Friedrichs; and her sister-in-law, Leslie Ewers. She is survived by her husband, Richard “Dickie” Friedrichs; her sons, Richard E. Friedrichs III (Trey) of Seattle, Austin Connor Friedrichs (Connor) of McAllen, and Ryan Evan Friedrichs and his partner, Ileana Acevedo (Ili), of Rockport; her sisters, Suzanne Dube and Carolyn Macomb; her sister-in-law, Page (Michael) Moore; her brother-in-law, David Ewers; and her nieces and nephews, Richard (Elissa) Ewers, Trevor Ewers (Jordan), Allison Moss, Jennifer Burke, Madelynne Moore, Leslie Elaine Moore, Michael Moore Jr. and Haidee Moore. Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. A service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 at Kreidler Funeral Home.
