Patricia Marshall Shupe

SAN ANTONIO- Patricia Marshall Shupe, 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2024, with family by her side. Pat was born in Streator, Illinois, on August 13, 1934, to Clarence and Ruth Marshall. She attended Eureka College in Illinois where she met her husband of forty-eight years, Norman Shupe. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. One of her cherished moments was being selected as Eureka College Homecoming Queen and being escorted by actor and future President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she began her career in education as a teacher in 1958. Later the family moved to the Rio Grande Valley, eventually making Edinburg their home. She continued working in education as a teacher and counselor, finally retiring after 42 years. Pat volunteered with and served on the boards of many different organizations. She was a member of Edinburg Retired Teachers Association, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, the Doll and Book Clubs of McAllen and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Edinburg. She loved traveling with her husband across the country in their motorhome, reading, and spending time with family. She especially relished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading to them and supporting them at their events. Her kindness and grace were a blessing that she lovingly shared as an example to all who were fortunate enough to meet her. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sons Michael (Angela) Shupe of San Antonio, Lane Shupe of McAllen, and Gene (Letty) Shupe of Edinburg, brother Don (Janice) Marshall of Lane, Illinois, grandchildren: Chris (Brooke) Shupe, Blaine (Brittany) Shupe, Zoee Shupe, and Jaxson Shupe, and great-grandchildren: Makenzie Shupe, Sophie Shupe, Bronwyn Shupe, and Fynn Shupe. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at The Cottages at Danny Kaye Memory Care, AIP Hospice and so many others who made her last months as comfortable and happy as possible and with dignity. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to Marilyn, Valerie, Lucy, Christina, Ruth, Sasha, Diana, Tammy, Kim, Tera, Juanita, Eva, and Francisco and also Amelia at Brookridge in Pharr, for their devoted care. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 30, 2024, at First Christian Church, 410 West University Drive, Edinburg, TX. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to First Christian Church in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen.
