James John Dukquits

James John Dukquits of Palmhurst, Texas was born on October 7, 1929, to Michael and Alma Dukquits in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 26, 2023. He was born and raised during the Great Depression, and he learned to make good use of anything and everything and to never waste. He farmed with his father until his father’s untimely death. At the age of 19, he continued to run the family farm. He was quite the prankster and loved fast cars and would have loved to have been a racecar driver. He was a proud American and a proud Texan. Jim fell in love with Rosalie Novak the minute he laid eyes on her and told his good friend he was going to marry her someday and that he did. Jim and Rosalie were married on June 26, 1954, and they would have celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary in just a month. They were quite the partnership. Jim and Rosalie made the decision to move, and in 1961, they moved to Racine County, Wisconsin where they raised their family. Jim was a jack of all trades, a master mechanic, he could do anything! He always said, “Never fear, Jim is here.” He could also do framing, cabinetry, trim work, electric, and plumbing. You name it, he could do it. He was a MacGyver to the 10th power! He built the four homes he and his family lived in, and he also built a motorhome, from the frame up. Family vacations were taken in comfort and style. He loved projects, the bigger, the better. Jim and Rosalie were a problem solver team. Jim loved to garden and absolutely loved his animals, and this is something he passed on to his three children. This big tough, sometimes cantankerous man had the softest heart and rescued many pets. Jim also loved the Lord and he and his family were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Sturtevant, Wisconsin and later a member of First Baptist Church of McAllen. The family were members of the Yorkville 4-H Club and Jim was a leader for both the small engines project and electricity project for many years. He would do anything for anyone and could never say no to his children. He was generous and caring man. Jim, Rosalie and son, Robert, started a trucking company, Dukquits Farms Trucking, later known as D.F.T., inc. in 1974 and it still operates today based in Edinburg, Texas. Jim and Rosalie moved to the Valley in 1986. He worked until the age of 90, and then moved on to retirement. He had an unbelievable work ethic. Jim was loved by many and touched the lives of many. He was always willing to help. His kids could write a book about this man. He was incredible. He was an exceptional man. He loved his wife and children, grandkids and great-grandkids, relatives, friends and associates. He was proud of his accomplishments and proud of his family. And his kids knew this. Jim is survived by his wife, Rosalie, his brother Ernest (Marie) of Amherst, Wisconsin, his son, Robert (Elizabeth) Mission, his daughter, Shannon of Palmhurst and his daughter, Shelby (Joel Geshay) Mission. Also, he is survived by two grandsons: Cody Dukquits (Melissa), Wesley Chapel, Florida, Dylan Dukquits (Terri) McAllen and four great-grandchildren; Barrett, Maverick, Dean and Davina. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother David, sister Arlene and two infant siblings. James Dukquits has left behind a legacy and heritage to his family, one that will continue on through many generations. He will always be missed and loved. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Tuesday May 30, 2023 at Kreidler funeral Home, Inc.
