Armando Campos

Armando Campos, 83, beloved father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, passed away 7/23/23 at the Alfredo Gonzales Texas Veterans Home in Edinburg, Texas after a short battle with cancer. He lived a long and full life and was tough as nails. During his lifetime, he overcame numerous medical issues and like Timex, he took a licking but kept on ticking. He had a strong work ethic and a desire to improve life for himself and his family. At one time, he worked 3 jobs to support his family while taking college courses majoring in Physics. He was kind, intelligent, creative, fun, loving, thoughtful and protective but also had his stubborn side. He was proud of and valued his time in the Navy and Army where he served as a paratrooper and still photographer with the 101st Airborne, a passion that remained with him his entire life. He often referred to the 101st Airborne as “my boys” while watching military documentaries. He loved Latin and swing dancing. He would often have the ladies lined up to take a turn twirling around the dance floor with him. He couldn’t get enough and it was the highlight of his week while he was able to attend. He loved classical music, mariachi music and music from the 60s. He loved that his children were both in band during their school years and enjoyed attending their performance. He loved his dogs and pampered them by cooking chicken breast in the crock pot for them and giving them filtered water. They gave him unconditional love during their time together which he greatly valued. He loved his children and siblings fiercely, but most of all he adored his grandchildren. He was immensely proud of their accomplishments and musical abilities and asked about them on a daily basis. He will be sorely missed for the rest of our lives. Armando was predeceased by his parents, Heriberto and Saturnina. He is survived by his daughters, Arlene (Jess) and Sandra (Ed), his grandchildren, Tristan and Taryn, his siblings, Dolores, Heriberto (Josie), Irene (Juan), Victoria (Walter), Marta and Clara (George,) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation and rosary will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th St. in McAllen, Texas. A mass will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Roman Catholic Church, 505 S Ironwood St, Pharr, TX 78577, and grave side services will follow at 1:00 pm at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX 78572.
