Ricardo Garcia and Maria Dolores Muñiz

Ricardo Garcia Muñiz, 70, entered into eternal rest, May 30, 2022, at his home in McAllen, Tx. surrounded by his family. Shortly there after on June 3rd 2022, He was joined by his beloved wife of 47 years, Maria Dolores Muñiz, 68. Ricardo was born and raised in Harlingen, TX., he acquired a Mechanics Degree from the University of Texas Pan American. Upon receiving his degree, he entered the Harlingen Fire Department, where he served for 2 years. He then went on to become a police officer with the Harlingen Police Department, serving the community for 38 years. Maria was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in San Benito, TX. She attended the University of Texas Pan American and obtained a degree in accounting. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, and was a devout Catholic. Ricardo and Maria met in 1967 and were married December 7th, 1974. They were the loving parents of two children Jenny and Richie and granddaughter Beth. He is preceded in death by his parents Andres and Clemencia Muñiz, siblings Genoveva Muñiz Martinez, Leofredo Muñiz, Andres Muñiz, Leonel Muñiz and Edward Muñiz. She is preceded in death by her parents Manuel Perales Casas and Mary Agnes Casas, her brother Juan Manuel Casas, and her nephew James Nicolas Casas. They are survived by their daughter Mary Jennifer (Moses) Igbafe, son Richard Casas (Sharon) Muñiz, granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Castillo, his brothers Edelmiro Muniz (Alicia) and Roberto Muniz (Lupita), her sisters Maria Elena (Ron) Campbell, Maria Margarita (Eduardo) Cortez, Maria Christina (Larry) Donihoo, Maria Fidela (Timothy) Davis, and one brother Juan Carlos (Margaret) Casas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6pm - 8pm Sunday, June 5th 2022 with the recital of a Holy Rosary at 7pm at Kreidler Funeral home of McAllen. Requiem Mass will be, 2pm-3pm, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 W. Fay St., Edinburg, Tx. 78539. Interment will be at 4pm, at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Tx.
