Norbert "Butch" Avila

Norbert Joseph Avila, known to many as Butch, was born on Jan. 9, 1951 and went to be with our Lord on Dec. 3, 2020 at the age of 69. Butch was well known as a karate instructor at Bob Davis Karate for many years. He loved the outdoors and had many hobbies. Proceeded in death by his parents, Norberto and Lydia Avila, he leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Amy A. Avila; daughters, Margaret L. Gallardo (Yesenia), Lisa Y. Carver (Michael), and Virginia C. Avila (Evelio); six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.* His daughters have donated ten pine trees to be planted in Bastrop State Park in memory of their father’s love of the outdoors and his passion for hunting and fishing. He also leaves behind his brothers, David Avila (Carmen), Albert Avila (Sylvia); sister, Thelma Avila (Damian); many nieces and nephews; also his stepchildren, Jose Acosta (Raquel), Angela Acosta (Robert), Jennifer Acosta (Danny), nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Butch touched many lives throughout his 69 years. As a karate instructor. Father, son, grandfather, brother, friend and loving husband. He will be missed by all that knew him. We would like to thank McAllen Medical Center for their hard work, dedication and compassion during these difficult times. We love you Butch. Graveside services will be held Jan. 7, 2021 at RGV State Veterans Cemetery at 2pm.
