Nelda Louise Pavlica

February 10, 1925 - November 10, 2015

McAllen: Born on February 10, 1925, Nelda Louise Pavlica, 90, passed from this earth into the tender, welcoming arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 10, 2015. Born to Lois (Sandifer) Allen and Houston Goodrich Allen, she was married to John Pavlica on May 2, 1944 She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband, a nephew Gary Allen, and a niece Genee Allen. Mother/Nana is survived by their four children, Janice (Jim) Van Dresar of LaGrange, John of Aransas Pass, Jim (Diane) of McAllen, and Jerry (Glenda) of Mission; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty (Verbon) Anthony of Edinburg, Pat (Allen "Sonny"†) Neilson of Georgetown; 2 brothers, Wayne (Gelee) of Wharton, and Warren (Mary Jane) of Kingsville; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Although an incredible wife and mother, she must have had her own trials as a child. A memory that she shared was when she ran through a closed screen door as her mother was about to "discipline" her. When she and Daddy married and had children, they were both disciplinarians; in extreme times, we made sure the door was open. Mother was VERY competent and aware of her wanted and difficult task of home maker. She taught us how to sew, cook, make a bed, correctly, clean the house, how to wash our own clothes if we wanted them washed or dried a "special" way, and later, how to properly fillet a fish. She was in charge of the home budget, and was wonderful in providing for our needs and many of our wants. She would start a Christmas fund at the first of the year to have an assorted array of gifts by Christmas Day. When grandchildren later arrived, her love and attention expanded immensely. These, now young adults, have expressed their memories of the special times spent with Nana and Papo, and how they think of her when they fish or see something unique or new. They remember the special times, too, when they would be sitting and held close to her in the porch swing. Mother led by example, and related her own experience when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Her story made it easier for us, when we made our own decision. Through the years that she was in the nursing care, John Dale was devoted to her well- being and needs. Mother's character is evident in him. Perhaps, because he extended his attention to other residents, they in turn expressed their love for Mother! Thank you, Dale! We extend our thanks to the Staff of Oak Crest Nursing Home, Rockport, for their attention, care and love for Mother. Thank you also, to Christi, Claire, and Madonna with Christus-Spohn Hospice Care for their understanding love. Mother/Nana has always had a loving heart and was admired and loved by those she met. She shall be remembered by us all for her endless love and even for a simple expression as: "I like your shoes"! Thank you, Mother! You are loved! Visitation will be 4:00PM to 6:00PM Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th St. Funeral service will be 10:00AM Monday, November 16th 2015 at Kreidler Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
