Lucille and Morriss grew up together, attended classes together and graduated from McAllen High School the same year. Morriss attended Texas Tech University until the beginning of WWII, when he joined the Naval Air Corp. Lucille went to McAllen Business College and started working for Lloyd Bentsen Sr. at Bentsen Development upon graduation. Lucille and Morriss were married in 1942 and remained each other’s best friend throughout their 70-year marriage. Lucille was active in community work, a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of McAllen where she sang in the choir for more than 25 years and joined the Women of the Church to achieve many community outreach goals. She earned many close friendships and served her community well working on projects with Junior Service League/Junior League of McAllen, Inc. and P.E.O. Chapter BV. She also enjoyed the stimulation and camaraderie as a member of the 20th Century Book Club. Lucille was devoted to her Christian faith, her family and her many friendships.
