Iva Julia Cannon
January 12, 2022
Iva Julia Westerman Cannon went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12,2022. Iva is survived by her 3 children, Deborah L. Polzin, Denice L. Kemp, Dennis H. Cannon, a son in law, Thomas S. Polzin and one grandchild, Mark B. Polzin. Iva was 89 and lived life on her terms. She was a successful business woman that had a nose for finding properties to profit from. She owned and ran several businesses during her life and had a reputation for being a tough negotiator as some of our local businessmen can testify to. I am sure she even tried to negotiate more time with the Lord when it was time to go. She was strong, stubborn, and had determination to succeed in her projects, sometimes when the odds were against her. She didn't like to show her feelings and kept a wall up to protect herself. As a single mother she raised her children with morals and believing in God. She was friendly and enjoyed chatting with people, but you did not want to cross her or suffer the wrath of Iva. She had a soft side as well that she kept hidden. She loved animals. In her last years her beloved dogs Chula and Ginger were her loyal companions. It is with great appreciation that her son, Dennis, Maya and Flavio her household helpers, were there to help her. I want to also thank The Bridges in Edinburg for the care, (oatmeal with raisins) and kindness she received while in their care for the last few months of her life. Even though she could test our patience and push our buttons we will miss her dearly. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Kreidler Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 2:00PM at Roselawn Cemetery.
