TSGT Antonio “Tony” Arenas, USAF Ret., passed on to be with our Lord on July 3, 2018. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Arenas was born in McAllen, Texas July 13, 1933. He is survived by his wife Oralia Castillo Arenas, 2 daughters, Laura Irasema (Aurelio) Zapata from McAllen, TX., Sylvia Annette Arenas from Sharyland, TX., and son Marco Antonio Arenas from Canyon Lake, TX., 3 grandchildren, Tony Vargas, Alyssa Laura Zapata, Jolinda Ariana DeLeon, and great grandson Tony Vargas, Esq. He is also survived by his sister Luz Morin of McAllen, TX. He served his country with great pride and retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years. Tony was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. After his military retirement, he worked for Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic as a Health Benefits Advisor which he retired from and worked previously at TSTI in Harlingen as the Veterans Counselor. Tony was a member of VFW Post 8788 where he was an active member of the Honor Guard and held various officer positions. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree in McAllen. Tony was devoted to the welfare and health of his fellow veterans. He traveled to Washington, D.C. many times to lobby for a much needed Veterans hospital. Tony was a parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Visitations will be from 4 PM to 8 PM with rosary services at 7 PM on Thursday, July 5th at Kreidler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph the Worker Church at 12 PM on Friday, July 6th. Internment services will be held at 2 PM, at the State Veterans Cemetery on Inspiration Rd., Mission, TX. VFW Post 8788 of McAllen will conduct military services. Funeral services are under the direction of Kreidler Funeral Home at 314 N. 10th St., McAllen, TX.
