Rosalinda Tamez Bryan

Rosalinda Tamez Bryan, 80-years-old, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Luis and Paulina Tamez, husband James (Pete) Bryan Jr., brother Gumaro Tamez, brother-in-law Jake Codina and nephew Louie Tamez. She is survived by her daughter, Patty Summers (Mike), Step-sons, Leslie Bryan (Denise) and James Bryan III, Sister, Irma Codina and Brother, Frank Tamez (Paula), Sister-in-law, Alicia Tamez and Grandchildren: Sarah Summers, Jack Summers, Sam Summers, Nikki Bryan Garvis, Becki Bryan, Michael Bryan, Nicholas Bryan, Jayson Bryan and great-grandchildren, Hope Butler, Alexa Bryan, Chase Bryan, Griffinn Bryan and nieces and nephews. Rosie was born in Monterrey, Mexico but came to the United States as a very young child and grew up in Donna, Texas. She was a proud graduate of Donna High School in 1962 (the year they won the State Championship in football) and then went on to receive her Bachlor’s Degree from Pan American University (now UTRGV) and her Master’s Degree from the University of Houston (Clear Lake Campus). She began her career as a science teacher in McAllen, TX and taught in Navasota and LaMarque, TX as well. She then made a career change in 1977 when she was hired to work in the Environmental Lab at Rohm and Haas Inc. in Deer Park, TX (now Dow Chemical) and soon became one of their most valued and highly respected employees. She was tasked with reading, interpreting, and implementing regulations to keep the plant compliant with the EPA. With Spanish being her first language, she was also given the opportunity to travel and assist the other Rohm and Haas Plants located in Latin American countries with their yearly audits. Rosie was often the first one to arrive at work and the last one to leave. Being raised by a single mother (widowed at a very young age and working several jobs at a time to provide for her 4 children), she learned the importance of an excellent work ethic. Rosie did not have much free time for hobbies. But she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and more than anything serving others. She was an active member at Sagemont Church in Houston as well as a part of the PALS Program mentoring school aged children. Once she retired in 2007, she and Pete moved to the Rio Grande Valley so she could care for her mother. They joined First Baptist McAllen and were as active as possible. Being a caretaker was all consuming for her. After losing her mom and Pete in 2017, she herself became ill with cancer and dementia. She leaves an amazing example of loving her Lord and loving others…especially her family. She was a true blessing to every person she knew. It was a life beautifully lived. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, July 11, 2024 beginning at 9:00am at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen where Pastor Phillip Hoeflinger will officiate a funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will follow at 1:00pm at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
