Leopoldo "Leo" Antonio Morales

Leopoldo “Leo” Antonio Morales, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 91 surrounded by his family. Born on June 13, 1934, in Mission, Texas, Leopoldo lived a life marked by hard work, integrity, and devotion to his family. He was a steady presence, a source of wisdom and strength, and someone who always put his loved ones first. Leopoldo attended Texas A & M University where he joined the Corps of Cadets, an experience that helped shape his lifelong values of discipline, service, and leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Lamar University, an achievement he valued greatly and spoke with pride. He went onto serve as a proud and hardworking Civil Engineer for 43 years at the Texas Department of Transportation in Pharr, Texas. He played a meaningful role in helping design and expand the highway and FM systems of the Rio Grande Valley, including his contribution to the development of Expressway 83. His work left a lasting impact on the community and reflected his strong work ethic, precision, and pride in designing state highway and FM projects that would serve generations to come. He carried out his profession with integrity, commitment and honor. His strong work ethic and sense of responsibility were qualities he instilled in his family and lived by every day. Beyond his professional career, he believed strongly in giving back. He was an active member of the Lions Club, where he dedicated his time to serving others, and he took great joy in coaching little league baseball mentoring young players and teaching them teamwork, discipline and confidence, lessons that extended far beyond the field. He served as a committee member for Highway District 21 Federal Credit Union. Leopoldo found great joy in being present for his grandchildren. He faithfully attended their extracurricular activities and school recognition ceremonies, rarely missing a sporting event, dance performance and student award events - whether close to home or out of town. Leopoldo is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Lilia Morales; his loving children, David Morales (Aurora Morales) and Dr. Sandra Pitchford (George Pitchford); his loving grandchildren, Alexandria Campbell (Luke Campbell), Brendon Pitchford, Caleb Morales, and Joshua Morales, and step grandson: Christopher Pitchford (Chelsea Pitchford); his adored great-grandchildren, Eloise Campbell, Bennett Campbell, and Collins Campbell, and step great-grandchildren: Anderson Pitchford, Katherine Pitchford, Tanner Pitchford and Elise Pitchford; his sister Mary Lou Sullivan (Wiley Sullivan); and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by loved ones he now joins in eternal rest, his parents, Leopoldo Morales and Maria Luisa Morales, and his siblings, Yolanda Coco, Genaro Morales, Raul Morales, Sagrario Salas, and Christina Bramlett. Those who knew Leopoldo will remember him for his kindness, strong values, and the deep love for his family. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. Visitation will take place at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission. The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support during this time of loss. Leopoldo will be deeply missed, forever remembered and always in our hearts.
