Kathleen (Kathy) Shepherd Moschel

EDINBURG – Kathleen (Kathy) Shepherd Moschel, 88, passed away on March 25, 2025. She was born in St. Charles, Missouri in 1937 and moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1966. Kathy attended Pan American University and started her career in real estate in 1977. She opened her own brokerage in 1986, which eventually became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices RGV Realty, where she worked until she passed, and it continues business today under the leadership of her son, Tom Shepherd. Kathleen had a vitality and passion for life that was evident in her successful career and personal relationships. Friends and family would describe her as hard-working, lively, competitive, endearing and generous. She was a proponent of lifelong learning, self-improvement, and was always encouraging to others. Throughout her life, Kathleen enjoyed reading, traveling, snow skiing, scuba diving and working. Kathleen is survived by her sister, Virginia Howe, her brother, Ronald Boschert, her daughter, Judy Burns (Robert), her son, Allen Kemp (Denise), her son, Tom Shepherd (Kathryn), her grandchildren, David Burns, Julia Daugherty (Patrick), Jennifer Shepherd, Corinne Shepherd, and Christopher Shepherd, her four great-grandchildren, her two step-nephews, John Brooke and William Brooke (Sherry), and step-niece, Darlene Hoyns (Roy). She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 37 years, Bill Moschel, her grandson, Robert Burns, her brother, Mel Boschert, her brother, Frederick Boschert, her sister, Rose Smysor, her sister, Marjorie Wilson, and her parents Frederick and Viola Boschert. Kathleen was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had several treasured longtime friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all. A woman of faith, Kathleen openly expressed her gratitude to God for the many blessings in her life. She found comfort and strength in reading her Bible and spending time in prayer. A private service will be held in her honor. Passionate about helping others, Kathleen served on the Board of Directors for Mujeres Unidas, an organization that provides shelter and support services to victims of domestic violence and survivors of sexual assault and their families. In remembrance of Kathleen’s life and legacy, the family kindly requests that charitable donations be made to Mujeres Unidas.
