John Francis Visintine, Jr.

John Francis Visintine Jr. died peacefully on November 27th at the age of 92 in Pharr, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 15th, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, to John Francis and Bridget Irene (Murray) Visintine. His formative years were spent in Columbus, where he served as an acolyte at St. Agatha’s Parish. He graduated from Columbus Aquinas High School and proudly earned his degree from Notre Dame University, class of 1954. After which he was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a tank commander stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, ultimately achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. John lived the majority of his life in Columbus, actively involved in the business community. A devoted family man, he was also deeply engaged in his church community. In his later years, he embraced his role as a teacher, which he considered one of his greatest callings. In 2017, he relocated with the love of his life, Sharon, to Texas to be closer to family. He took great joy in sharing with those around him that he was “blessed and highly favored,” which became his hallmark affirmation. Above all, he was a man of profound faith, serving as a pillar of strength for his family and a beacon of eternal optimism. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. John Visintine Jr. is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; children Martin Visintine, Craig (Nancy) Visintine, Karen Colvin, and John (Crystal) Visintine III; grandchildren Alexis, William, Cameron, Rachel, Chelsea, Carly, Ian, Kara, Jessie, Madeline, Susan, Christian, and Emma; great-grandchildren; Rylan, Austin, Owen, Devin, Aubrey, Gavyn, Grayson, Ryder, Kayla, Brenden, Kinsley, Gordon, Eleanor, Dax, Olympia, and Owen; and sister-in-law Nancy Flowers; further survived by other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his sister Jeanne Morrow, daughter Barbara (Colin) LeVeque, and son Steve Visintine. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 15th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd., Columbus, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Rd., followed by a celebration of life from 1-4 p.m. at The Scioto Country Club, 2196 Riverside Dr. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Notre Dame.
