Carolyn Foerster Lyons

McAllen - Carolyn Foerster Lyons, 76, passed away on April 21, 2023 after a lengthy illness in the hospital. Originally from Elsa, Carolyn called McAllen home for over 37 years. Carolyn was born May 2, 1946 in Mercedes Texas and attended schools in Edcouch-Elsa and graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1965. She attended Pan American University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1970 and a master’s degree in supervision in 1973. Carolyn used her education training as a kindergarten teacher for over 40 years, in the McAllen and Edinburg School Districts. She was very proud that she was able to give many kindergarten students a start in their education. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Otto Foerster and Willie Ruth Foerster. Carolyn is survived by her husband Clyde Lyons, Jr. for 56 years, her siblings, Charles Foerster (Jane) Keller, Texas, Gordon Foerster (Debbie) Corpus Christi, Texas. Jamie Foerster (Brenda) Weslaco, Texas, and preceded in death by brother William Foerster (Ann) McAllen, Texas. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with 3 children, Clyde Wesley Lyons III (Terri) Bastrop, Texas, Becky Lyons (Adrian) Austin, Texas, and David Lyons (Anna) McAllen, Texas. Her pride and joy were her 5 grandchildren, Nick Lyons, Willa Lyons, Sarahann Carolyn Lyons, Charlie Lyons and Chloe Lyons and many nieces and nephews. As a grandmother, she wanted to watch her grandchildren grow into adults and have her great grandchildren. After she retired, she enjoyed traveling with family to different parts of the United States, Canada, and a trip to Europe. The trip to Europe was one of the most memorable trips when she and family went to Pineburg, Germany to visit the parents of her daughter-in-law, Anna. On that trip, she and family went to several European cities such as London, Paris, Prague, Munich, and Hamburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N 10th Street, McAllen, Texas. Church services will be held at Kreidler Funeral Home at 10:00 am on April 26, 2023 followed by graveside services at Roselawn Cemetery-Mausoleum, 1201 S. Main, McAllen Texas. Pallbearers are Wesley Lyons, David Lyons, Adrian Davila, Gordon Foerster, Jamie Foerster, and Matt Foerster. Carolyn will be missed by all that loved her.
