Alicia C. Rodriguez

Alicia C. Rodriguez was born in Alamo, Texas on July 26, 1934 to Victor Cantu and Maria Gonzales. Alicia ended her journey on this earth peacefully on July 22, 2024 surrounded by family, songs of faith, and an abundance of love. Alicia was raised in Alamo and graduated as Salutatorian at PSJA in 1953. In 1955, she married SSgt. Carlos C. Rodriguez, who would be her soulmate, spiritual partner, and father to their two sons: Carlos Jr. and Omar. Alicia and Carlos Sr. were married for 55 years. Carlos Sr. was deceased in 2010. Alicia spent over 25 years in support of Carlos Sr. duty to country as a member of the United States Air Force. In her travels nationally and internationally with Carlos Sr., Alicia was very active in scouting, leadership roles in her church, various charities, and in support of their son's civic and sporting activities. In 1981, after many years in service to their country as military nomads, Alicia and Carlos Sr. returned to their roots in the Rio Grande Valley. While most individuals at Alicia's stage of life would have been most satisfied with relaxed retirement living, Alicia embarked on a new invigorating chapter of her life by becoming the founding pastor of God's Love Ministries in Edinburg. She remained pastor at God's Love for over 15 years. Alicia's ministry was not only to share the Word of Jesus Christ, but was also executed with basic meaningful acts of love and kindness. Alicia was action-oriented and would always try find ways to alleviate physical, emotional or spiritual suffering of others. Alicia would always give others positive words of encouragement, helping build confidence levels, comfort, and helping them navigate (she would minister to incarcerated women) through difficult and sometimes dark periods. Her life of service was done with a healthy measure of study, prayer and unconditional love. Alicia is survived by her two sons - Carlos Jr. (Rosa Chaires) and Omar (Veronica Prida); four grandchildren - Jacob, Kristina (Alex Rampl), Roberto and Karolina Rodriguez; two great-grandchildren - Adriana Alicia and Valentina Isabella Rampl, and many other wonderful cousins, nephews, nieces and in-laws. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dahlia Salinas who went above and beyond in her care and love for her Tia Alicia during the last several months. Visitation will be at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N 10th, Mc Allen, TX, Friday, July 26, 2024 from 6PM to 8PM. Funeral Services will be at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N 10th, Mc Allen, TX, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11AM. Interment will follow the Funeral Services at Valley Memorial Cemetery, 3601 to 3611 North Taylor, Mission, TX.
